Some quick shots of the full moon between the Pines and clouds while at Mueller State Park, May 5, 2012. This was the super moon for the year-when it’s closest to Earth (known as perigee). Missed the accompanying meteror shower because of cloudcover.

We weathered our second snowstorm of this fall season & these were taken the following morning. Danny took the morning off from his studies to be my camera assistant & keep me from falling on the ice. Enjoy!
This was a great adventure with Danny & his friends. Just a short hike up from the trail head In Palmer Lake to the 2 reservoirs above the town. Numerous spurs to explore or you can just stay on the closed road all the way to the forest service road (Balanced Rock Road) and venture as far as you want into Pike National Forest land. (more…)
Living in Colorado Springs gave me the opportunity to take my son Daniel to the International Firefighter’s Memorial a few years ago. It sits in the Northwest corner of Memorial Park and we have probably driven past it over 100 times or more. We finally stopped and I’m glad we did because it is quite a moving site.
Placed in the memorial area are several bronze sculptures as well as a wall similar to the Vietnam Memorial dedicated to Firefighters who have given their all for others. The list from 2001 is staggering!
What a spectacular day at the Garden of the Gods! The light cloud cover made for some really great shadows in this shot-plus they helped to keep the heat down.
